Healthy Snack Ideas for Summer

When it comes to snacking, choosing healthier options can make a big difference in our overall wellness. But, it doesn't have to be boring, make your healthy snacks fun and colorful to satisfy your cravings!


Cheesecake Strawberry Snacks


Ingredients

500g Fresh whole strawberries

150g Smooth cottage cheese

2 tablespoons Peanut butter

1 teaspoon Honey

2 tablespoons Macadamia nut, chopped



Method

Carefully hull your strawberries - How do you hull a strawberry? Use a small sharp knife and cut, in a circular motion, around the top green part of the strawberry and into the flesh underneath.

Remove the hull and wash strawberries under cold running water before using.

Place the cottage cheese in a bowl and whisk till smooth, add the peanut butter and honey and stir to combine.

Place the mix into a piping bag and pipe into the strawberries, sprinkle the top with the chopped nuts.




Chocolate Coated Banana


Ingredients

4 Bananas, cut crossways or into thirds

1 Large avocado, ripened

2 teaspoons Cacao powder

1 tablespoon Honey

1/4 teaspoon Vanilla extract


Method

Place the avocado, cacao powder, honey and vanilla in a blender cup and blend till smooth.

Insert a popsicle stick into the cut side of the banana.

Spoon the avocado mix over the banana to coat.

Now you can sprinkle the topping of your choice over the chocolate, you can use finely chopped pistachios, coconut flakes, toasted almond flakes or anything else you like.

Place on a tray lined with baking paper and place in the freezer for a couple of hours and then serve.


Peaches with Cottage Cheese


Ingredients

6 Peaches, halved and destoned

250g Smooth cottage cheese

1 tablespoon Maple syrup

1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon Grated lemon rind

1 teaspoon Lemon juice


Method

Preheat your grill pan to medium-high. Brush the cut side of the peach halves with oil and place on the grill for 4 minutes and the fruit starts to caramelize. Remove the peaches from the grill and let them cool for a few minutes or until they are cool enough to handle.

Add the cottage cheese, maple syrup, vanilla, rind and lemon juice to a small bowl and whisk to combine.

Add a dollop of the cottage cheese mix in each peach and serve.
